I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions (I think they’re dumb). But on January 1, 2014 I decided to do a sketch every morning and post it online. And today marks the third anniversary of the start of my daily sketch blog! The first year was tough, the second was easy, and then the third I upped the challenge by coloring all my sketches. And it’s been so much fun that I’m going for a fourth year!
A couple things, though. The first is that I’m going to deviate from the norm a bit this year. I’ve been getting my sketch ideas from a group on DA called Daily Sketch Challenge. The group is great and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it. But after 3 years of sometimes having to draw characters I don’t care about or having the same character come up multiple times (I’m looking at you, Daredevil) I’ve decided to cherry pick which topics I want to tackle. I still dig the group and will still be participating, but I’d rather be 100% into the character/topic and do a great job then half-ass a drawing of a character I don’t care about.
I also get tons of requests from people to draw certain characters or topics for my blog. I’d love to be able to draw them all, but I can’t. However, for this next year I’ll be taking suggestions for $5 a pop. You’ll not only be supporting a handsome artist whose work you dig, but you’ll also have a sketch drawn by me at rock bottom prices, WAY cheaper than I’d normally charge.
